If you choose hotfix rhinestones, you’ll also need transfer paper. Rhinestone transfer paper has 2 pieces, a non-sticky opaque piece and a clear sticky sheet. To use transfer paper with this design, print out our template. You may have to enlarge the size so that the dots match the size of the bedazzling jewels. Peel off the clear part of the transfer paper and lay it on top of the template, sticky side up. Place the crystal gems facet-side down in the dots on the sticky part of the transfer paper, filling in the heart shape. To glue flatbacks to fabric, we prefer Gem-Tac for its ease of application. For this method, you use the template as a guide. Begin your design by gluing the rhinestones along a center line, horizontally or vertically. Then, lay the pattern on your shirt and mark the placement of bedazzling jewels using chalk or a water-soluble sewing marker.
To glue flatback crystals, place a drop of glue slightly smaller than the gem on one of the marks. When you gently press the jewel into the glue drop, some of the glue should ooze from the sides. This creates a seal that helps prevent the rhinestone from peeling off. Continue gluing in this manner until your design is complete. Typically, craft stores carry several different adhesives. The best glues for bedazzling dry clear and are washable. Our favorite rhinestone glue for fabrics is Gem-Tac for its ease of use. Alternatively, you can also use hotfix rhinestones and transfer paper to make an iron on transfer. Simply lay a piece of wax paper over the template. Then, place the hotfix crystals on the wax paper facet side up in the spaces indicated. Peel apart your transfer paper and place the clear sticky piece over your iron on jewels. How to Make a Hot Fix TransferHotfix rhinestones already have glue on them. Using transfer paper with them makes the process super easy. Lay out the crystals facet side up according to the pattern. Peel the transfer paper from its backing and gently place the sticky side on top of the rhinestones. Gently press down so that the bedazzling gems stick to the transfer paper. Position the rhinestone transfer on your t-shirt. Heat up your non-steam iron to the hottest setting. When hot, gently press down on the transfer, holding the iron still for about 15 seconds. Pick up the iron and reposition it to another part of the transfer. Repeat this process until all the crystals have been heated. DO NOT slide the iron as this may dislodge and move the bedazzling jewels. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then remove the transfer paper. Your shirt is now finished. An alternative is to use a hotfix tool. As with the glue on method, lay out the rhinestones on the shirt and remove one crystal at a time to heat.  How to Use the Rhinestone Template with Glue-On RhinestonesFlatback rhinestones require the use of an adhesive. My favorite glue for fabrics is Gem-Tac. It is perfect for gluing faux gems to fabric, dries clear, is washable and is easy to apply. Place the rhinestones on your shirt according to the template. Then, when you are ready to glue, pick up one crystal off the shirt. Squeeze a drop of glue just slightly smaller than the gem in its place. Press the flatback crystal into the glue drop. Or, choose a pair of bedazzled denim pants for a cosmopolitan and glamorous look. Yet, why pay a high price when you can DIY rhinestone jeans and create your unique look?
How to: DIY Bling for Jeans
Attaching rhinestones to clothing is easy and simple once you learn the methods of application. The most popular method for attaching bedazzling gems to fabric is gluing. While you’ll find several suitable jewel glues, my favorite for fabrics is Gem-Tac. It dries clear, is washable, and the flow is easy to control. Plus, it works well with denim. Many people also like E6000 for gluing crystals to fabric.
Although gluing is an easy method for attaching rhinestones, there is a technique to it. If done incorrectly, your bedazzling crystals may fall off in the wash. 1. Place a drop of glue on the garment slightly smaller than the rhinestone. 2. Press the crystal into the glue drop. 3. A little bit of glue should seep out from around the sides of the gem. 4. This forms a seal to keep it from peeling off. 5. Lay the garment flat for 24 hours to allow the glue to cure. Another option is to use hotfix rhinestones. These crystals have glue on the flat side of the gem. Heating the jewel activates the glue. Then, when it cools, it forms a strong and permanent bond. Typically, hotfix gems are the preferred choice for frequently worn and washed clothing. Alternatively, you can use metal settings to attach flatback (non hotfix rhinestones). Metal settings hold the bedazzling gems in place with metal legs that wrap around the crystal. Jewels attached with metal settings are very secure. Finally, you can choose the sew-on crystals to hand-stitch the bedazzling gems to your garment. Additionally, you can glue and sew these flatback crystals into place for a more secure attachment. 
Some Simple Pattern Ideas for DIY RhinestoneJeans
Now that you’ve decided to DIY bling for jeans, how do you decide on a design? If you’re a beginner, you can start with something simple. Another idea is to scatter crystal rhinestones along the outside pant leg seam. Before you begin gluing, place masking/painter’s tape on the jeans to mark the placement boundaries of the faux gems. Sparkle in This Bedazzled One-of-a-Kind Rhinestone PendantRhinestones have the power to transform anything plain and ordinary into an eye-catching, sparkly creation! After searching through the clearance rack at a craft store, I found this plain plastic pendant for only 1$. While a nice piece, that is nothing special about it until I decided to turn it into my next project and transform it into a bedazzled one-of-a-kind rhinestone pendant. For this project, I used:
DIY Jewelry: How to Turn an Ordinary Pendant into Something ExtraordinaryThe pendant is a dark brown color. I decided on a scatter pattern with crystal rhinestones outlining the outside edge of the pendant, black diamond outlining the inside edge of the pendant, and jet hematite filling in the middle of the wider spaces between the crystal and black diamond crystals. E6000 creates a nice, strong bond when gluing rhinestones to plastic, so this is my adhesive of choice for this project. Make sure you use this glue in a well-ventilated area and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. E6000 tends to be a bit gloppy so when I use E6000, I like to squeeze a bit over a paper plate and use a toothpick to scrape the amount of glue needed. I began with gluing all crystal rhinestones around the outer edge first. I began at the top. placing the bedazzling gems touching, and as I went down the pendant, I spaced the bling jewels out from one another. Place a drop of glue slightly smaller than the rhinestone on the pendant. Then, with the wax-tipped tool or tweezers, pick up a crystal and gently press it into the glue drop.
I glued the black diamond rhinestones with the same spacing as the crystal: starting at the top next to each other, and spacing the crystal gems out as I continued down the inside edge.  The pendant is wider on the sides and the bottom, so some spacing needed more sparkle. I glued jet hematite rhinestones in this area with random spacing between. When you finish gluing the bling jewels, allow to dry for 24 hours.
What a noticeable difference in pendants! The original piece was bland and boring. Yet, this new piece is fun, festive, sparkly, and perfect for that casual outfit or formal dress that needs an extra touch of sparkle!

Our heart template makes this project easy. Cut out the darkened areas on the template using an X acto knife and cutting mat or a pair of cheap embroidery scissors leaving small areas uncut to leave the inside of the heart intact.  Tape this to your tile.  Paint in the cut areas with a paint brush and red acrylic craft paint. Gently remove the template and paint in the missing areas. Allow to dry.  When dry, spray with a clear acrylic coating (I used Krylon brand). This keeps the paint from any damage. Allow to dry. I liked the idea of adding some clear glitter, so using a craft glue that dries clear, I mixed a generous amount of clear glitter with the glue. Paint on around the pattern using a paint brush. Allow to dry and then spray with another coat of clear acrylic coating.  When completely dry, glue on rhinestones using E6000. You can use the template as a guide for the placement of crystals. The dots on the template are the places I glued the bedazzling gems. Squeezing the E6000 over a paper plate, use a toothpick to apply an amount of glue to the tile just slightly smaller than the jewel. Using a wax tipped tool or tweezers, pick up a rhinestone and gently press it into the glue. Continue gluing until your pattern is complete, and allow to dry flat for 24 hours.  The clear glitter and rhinestones give this hand-painted ceramic tile the perfect amount of sparkle. Have a specific person in mind?
